Homicide Trends Among U.S. Cities

Chicago's rank among cities in the United States for homicide rate has decreased steadily since 2001, approxiamately the time that CeaseFire began addressing gun violnce in Chicago. While Chicago had been consistently among the 20 US cities with the highest homicide rate for a decade, this changed in 2001 and by 2005 Chicago ranked 40th in homicide rate. This shows that not only are the number of homicides in Chicago decreasing, but they are decreasing at a much greater rate than most other US cities.
