Wave of Support for CeaseFire Amid Budget Cuts

State Representatives Call for Doubling of State Funding for CeaseFire, Nov. 6, 2007 (news release, pdf)

Legislators from Chicago, Aurora, Cicero, Decatur, Maywood, Rockford and Waukegan formed a coalition to support CeaseFire and double its state funding.

State Rep. Susana Mendoza announced that she was introducing legislation to double the level of state funding for CeaseFire from FY2007. She was joined at the press conference by State Reps. Toni Berrios, Linda Chapa LaVia, LaShawn Ford, Esther Golar, Deborah Graham, Lisa Hernandez, Chuck Jefferson, Bob Rita, Eddie Washington, and Karen Yarbrough, who are all co-sponsors of the bill. State Rep. Bob Flider of Decatur did not attend but also is a co-sponsor of the bill.

The CeaseFire Coalition also includes State Reps. Ken Duncan, Elga Jefferies, Milt Patterson and Cynthia Soto.
